What is a waxed amaryllis bulb?
A waxed amaryllis bulb is a premium flower bulb that has been hand-dipped in decorative wax, allowing it to grow and bloom without the need for soil, water, or a pot. Everything it needs is sealed inside!
-
Do I need to water my waxed amaryllis bulb?
Nope! One of the best parts of a waxed amaryllis is that it requires zero watering. All the nutrients and moisture the bulb needs are locked inside the wax coating.
-
Where should I place my bulb?
Choose a spot with bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sun or extreme temperatures. Rotate the bulb occasionally to help the stems grow upright.
-
How long will it take for my bulb to bloom?
You can expect the first bloom to appear within 4–6 weeks. Each bulb typically produces 2–3 bloom stalks, each with multiple flowers.
-
How long do the blooms last?
The full blooming cycle lasts around 8–12 weeks, depending on light, temperature, and bulb variety.
-
Is any maintenance required?
Very little! Just snip off withered blooms to encourage more growth. No watering or feeding is needed.
-
Are waxed amaryllis bulbs reusable?
They can be! After blooming is complete, you can remove the wax and replant the bulb with proper care (see Aftercare below).
-
Are these safe for pets?
Amaryllis bulbs and flowers are considered toxic to pets if ingested. Please display out of reach of furry friends.
Shipping & Display Questions

-
What should I do when my bulb arrives?
Unbox it right away. Waxed amaryllis bulbs can start to sprout inside the packaging if left too long. We recommend opening your shipment the day it arrives.
-
My bulb has already started sprouting—what now?
That’s perfectly normal! Simply place it in a bright room and let the blooming process unfold.
-
Can I delay blooming for a special occasion?
Yes. You can slow down the blooming process by storing the bulb in a cool, dark place. Once you’re ready, bring it into a warm, bright room to kickstart growth. Do not place in refrigerator.
-
Will the wax color affect how the bulb grows?
Not at all! The wax color is decorative and does not impact growth or bloom quality.
-
Can I use my bulb as a gift?
Absolutely. Each bulb is a ready-to-gift moment of joy. Just be sure to let the recipient know to display it right away.
-
What do I do if my bulb never blooms?

Aftercare & Replanting

-
Can I reuse my bulb next year?
Yes! Once blooming ends, you can remove the wax and replant the bulb in soil to grow again next season.
-
How do I remove the wax after blooming?
Let the bloom cycle finish completely. Then, gently peel off the wax (like peeling an onion) by hand. Go slowly to avoid damaging the bulb inside.
-
How should I replant the bulb?
Place the bulb in well-draining soil in a pot with about one-third of the bulb above soil level. Water lightly and keep in a sunny spot.
-
Will it bloom again right away?
Not immediately. The bulb needs time to recover its energy. With proper care and rest, it can bloom again the following season.
-
What kind of care does a replanted bulb need?
After replanting, water occasionally and let the foliage grow. Once the leaves yellow and die back, let the bulb rest in a cool, dry, dark place for 8–12 weeks before reintroducing water and light to start the next bloom cycle (this is called dormancy).
-
What if I don't want to replant it?
That’s okay! These are designed to be enjoyed right out of the box. Think of it like a floral fireworks show—no strings attached.
